TRAINING IN “ASSISTING CHILDREN WITH LEARNING DISABILITIES AT SCHOOL”

Although the students with special needs hold a low rate, they are still the ones that schools concern about. “Learning disabilities” is a new concept towards teachers, who are working at Vietnamese Schools, because teachers are still confused between learning and intellectual disabilities, and they haven’t had sufficient knowledge about that in order to have an appropriate teaching method for students.

After realizing the importance of assisting children with learning disabilities, recently, in the morning on January 11, 2020, the Asian International School – IPS organized a training in “Assisting Children With Learning Disabilities At School” with the instruction of Ms. Huynh Thi Hoang Oanh, a lecturer of Special Education Faculty, Ho Chi Minh City University of Education.

The training helped teachers have fundamental knowledge of characteristics, assistance for primary-level students with learning disabilities, and, on that basis, helped teachers form the ability of recognizing, determining students with learning disabilities by appropriate means, and have solutions of assisting students with learning disabilities in the integrated environment at school. This special subject also helps teacher strengthen their understanding, respectful attitudes, objective assessments upon the students with learning disabilities, be ready to receive and accompany the students during the process of study and development.
