Applied Art is one of the many interesting programs in the summer course at the Asian International School. To take full advantage of the summer course between the two school years, students are given both practical and applied periods in a friendly and exciting atmosphere. Students can study and play, thereby creating necessary conditions for developing students’ mental and physical education.

In a grade three Applied Art class of Tran Nhat Duat campus, which took place on July 9th 2014, students eagerly came into their Art class with colorful paper, crayons and glue. In the room, Mr. Tran Tan Huy – the Applied Art teacher welcomed students with a thoughtful attitude. Before students came into the room, he carefully checked and arranged sample models of cute cartoon characters made from toilet paper cores – a lesson about “Decorating recycled products” which the students would practice. After the teacher gave instructions, students quickly divided themselves into small groups. They coordinated and supported each other in drawing, choosing colors and cutting paper. When the products were finished, they were very happy because at last, they made their own products. The products were praised by their teacher and they had more knowledge about using recycled products in daily life.

Two periods per week, students work together in groups or as individuals to make paper cities, paper toys, decorate recycled products, and draw freestyle pictures etc. Teachers are flexible and creative in every lesson. After each period, students proudly bring their products home and are encouraged to apply their knowledge into daily activities to become active, creative and positive.
