2022 International Scholarships | Ritsumeikan Asia Pacific University

Ritsumeikan Asia Pacific University (APU) first opened its doors in 2000 thanks to a collaboration between the Ritsumeikan Trust, Oita Prefecture, and Beppu City.

With an entirely new multicultural learning environment consisting of half international students and half Japanese/domestic students, APU’s aim was to provide an international education that lead to the development of global leaders, working in a diverse range of fields and industries. In these past eighteen years, this goal has not only been reached but exceeded as APU now has over 10,000 alumni from over one hundred thirty countries and regions.

Ritsumeikan APU is located in southern Japan on the island of Kyushu in a lovely bayside city named Beppu! Beppu is a safe and low-cost living city compared to other destinations, but still with the history and culture. Local festivals and events exist around every corner. Students here have great opportunities to take part alongside our welcoming community

APU Tuition Reduction Scholarship

APU Tuition Reduction Scholarships are offered in percentages of 30%, 50%, 65%, 80% and 100%, and cover the least amount of academic credits needed to graduate within the standard period of time.

Applicants who will obtain a Japanese status of residence (visa status) of students before enrolling at APU are eligible to apply for the APU Tuition reduction Scholarship at the time of application to APU through the online application system. Applicants who apply earlier have a greater chance at receiving the APU Tuition Reduction Scholarship.

AP House Global Community Scholarship

APU would like to support applicants who have a strong will to enter APU, but face difficulties in attending classes due to the economic impacts of COVID 19, by providing a AP House Global Community Scholarship. The AP House Global Community Scholarship exempts recipients from the full AP House Fees for a total of 11 months.

One of the main points of consideration for the selection process is whether recipients will become exemplary house residents and take advantage of the multicultural environment.
