Nguyen Minh Viet - District-level excellent student in Chemistry

In the school year 2012-2013, the District 3 Department of Education and Training once again organized the District-level Contest for Excellent Students. This is an annual contest aimed at improving the quality of education, promoting good teaching practices and the encouragement of effective study techniques in the district, as well as selecting excellent students to enter the City-level Contest.

Having studied at The Asian International School since grade 1, Nguyen Minh Viet has been an excellent student for 9 consecutive years in both the Vietnamese Program and International English Program. In particular, the intelligence and knowledge he has gained from teachers at school has helped this active, smart student perform well in Chemistry. He was selected by the school to participate in the District-level Contest for Excellent Students in the school year 2012-2013.

Concerning himself, Minh Viet said it did not take him a lot of time to study the subject because he usually acquired the knowledge immediately in class. At home, he spent time on reviewing, and finding new ways to resolve difficult exercises.

Considering his experience in learning Chemistry, he said he had a passion for the subject, wanting to find out new ways to solve his exercises. However, Chemistry would be very difficult if people did not discover a good learning style for themselves. He added: “With difficult formulas and organic equations, I try to remember the teacher’s tips as well as write down the formulas many times. In order to memorize the knowledge better, I review my lessons and do my exercises every day.”

During preparation for the contest, he studied hard, determined to achieve a prize to please his teachers and parents. At home, he spent time on self-study. He usually studied at night, because according to him, it was the quietest moment of the day, so he could think and learn more effectively. He also took advantage of this holiday time to practice more advanced exercises.

Minh Viet really likes the beautiful and spacious football field of The Asian International School. With the school’s football club, he has developed his passion for football. He and his friends usually spend time on playing football at school every day. Minh Viet is one of the outstanding defenders of the school’s football team. His team has participated in major sports contests held by the Department of Education and Training and was honored to achieve a District-level prize. Playing football brings him excitement. Minh Viet said: “In addition to hours studying in class, playing football is the time I feel most comfortable and relaxed. It helps me have more fun and strengthens my health so I can study better.”

Minh Viet has nurtured big dreams. He revealed: “In the future, I want to make a trip across Vietnam by motorbike. I also want to become the President when I grow up. These are the goals for me to strive further in my study and to advance in courage.”

As a good student with excellent academic achievements, Minh Viet is truly a great example for other students of The Asian International School.
